The narrative is set in the second part of the nineteenth century, when Japanese culture becomes popular in the West. A young Japanese girl, Yune, joins a French traveler, Oscar, on his return to France and offers to help at the family's ironwork company in Paris. Oscar's nephew and shopkeeper Claude unwillingly agrees to look after Yune, and we witness how those two, who have so little in common, come to understand and live together in 1800s Paris.
