Teikou Middle School has dominated the national basketball scene for the previous three years with its famed lineup: the "Generation of Miracles." It consisted of five prodigies who excelled at the sport, but a "Phantom Sixth Man" lurked in the shadows and helped the squad acquire their respected position. Their gigantic development eventually turned them off to the sport they loved, and they split up in high school. The Seirin High School basketball team is looking for new players and has recruited Taiga Kagami and Tetsuya Kuroko, two freshmen with substantial ability discrepancies. Kagami, who recently returned from America, possesses both natural talent and a fervent enthusiasm for the sport. Kuroko, on the other hand, lacks presence and possesses no great athletic skill.
